The Lost Button

The conundrum
Fallen who knows where?
Thread unthreaded
           pulled
           dangled
Unbeknownst gives way, breaks free
What will others think?
That I’m not put together?
The misfortune matters
Only when the breeze blows the coat carefree
with wisps of wind catching a chill
Only when the blouse comes busting out or
         the pants below the knees

Everything doesn’t need perfection
Practically perfect
Is perfect all the way
I’m okay
Standing proud
                       with
                             my
                                  intimates
                                               exposed

I Need

I need a job
I need to file for unemployment
I need my security deposit back
I need to move
I need a new rental house
I need my printer fixed
I need new tires for my car
I need new jeans
I need to lose 20 pounds
I need to fix my credit
I need new contacts
I need to hide my money
I need to pick up my prescription
I need the car washed
I need a shower
I need to floss my teeth, I see the dentist today
I need to finish a quilt
I need to make a new one
I need to files a small claims court claim
I need chocolate
I need more chocolate
There is not enough chocolate in the world to cure my blues.

Found this poem 4 years later and thankfully many of my needs have come to pass and I got a job at See's Candies.
