The homonym homily: a Poem for Rebecca

The runway affect
Can prove effective
Except you need to
Accept that the illusion is real
And not an allusion to another world
What is climatic
Is not climactic even though the earth turns
through the passage of time
What is illicit
Does not elicit sympathy
The matter of it all
Is the principle idea
Not a principal you can count on to toe the line
Then what used to be is more
Than a comparison of it all
Then the ground beneath my feet
Pushes me forth rather than holds me back
Then I'm whole again
Better than the fractured shattered self
of yesteryear
